The Delta Purchasing Alliance (DPA) received an update from McKesson Medical in mid-March on the State of Supply Chain and the news is encouraging. McKesson reports that all categories of protective personal equipment (PPE) are in ever-increasing supply at McKesson distribution centers across the country. Whether gowns, gloves, masks or syringes, McKesson states that the increasing availability of PPE products has provided them the confidence to increase health center allocations to 100% and above for most categories.
Additionally, McKesson sourced more quality alternative PPE brands in 2020. If a health centers’ brand preference is temporarily limited, there are now even more quality alternative options to purchase instead (a policy also known as “swap outs”). We suspect that all DPA members are experiencing these changes. We encourage you to consult with your local McKesson sales rep to review allocations. Discuss your eligibility to receive allocated products as well as alternate brand policies to ensure you have the vital PPE your staff need.
